By Air
Driving from Phalaborwa
From the Phalaborwa Gate, follow the R40 south for approximately 20 km. The entrance to Grietjie Private Nature Reserve is on your left.
Driving from Hoedspruit
At the four-way stop in Hoedspruit, turn onto the R40 towards Phalaborwa. After approximately 17 km, turn right into the Olifants West Gate, the entrance to Balule Nature Reserve.
Driving from Johannesburg / Pretoria
Follow the N4 towards Nelspruit, take the Belfast off-ramp, and continue through Belfast, Dullstroom, Lydenburg, and Ohrigstad. Cross the Abel Erasmus Pass and through the Strydom Tunnel to Hoedspruit, then follow the directions above. Allow approximately 6–7 hours for the full drive.
On Arrival
A reserve entrance fee is payable at the gate. As Grietjie is an open, unfenced reserve, please drive with care, wildlife moves freely across the roads.
